Choosing sign sheet: 1060 vs 3003 vs 3004 vs 5A02
1060 is softest and most corrosion-resistant; 3003 is the balanced workhorse; 3004 offers higher strength; 5A02 resists fatigue. Most sign panels use 1060 or 3003.
Sign panel selection balances strength, formability, corrosion resistance and cost. 1060 is softest with the best formability — ideal for standard panels and edge-bent blanks. 3003 is the balanced workhorse, preferred for coastal and welded assemblies. 3004 and 5A02 raise strength where wind load or vibration matters. Typical thickness is 2.0 mm for panels under 2 m² and 3.0 mm above 4 m².

Reflective sheeting classes I to V explained
Five classes differ in microstructure. I uses embedded glass beads (7 years, rural roads); II/III 10 years for provincial roads; IV/V use microprisms for expressways.
Reflective sheeting classes differ in optics, not just brightness. Glass-bead types (I, II) are economical and suit rural and low-speed roads; sealed-lens III serves provincial roads; microprismatic IV and V hold retroreflectivity at wide observation angles, which is why expressways require them. Match the class to design speed, not to budget alone.

What makes up the price of a traffic sign
Sign unit price = aluminium + sheeting + profiles & fasteners + processing + freight. Aluminium and sheeting together are typically 60–75% of the cost.
A sign price is aluminium (35–45%), sheeting (25–35%), profiles and fasteners (8–12%), processing (10–15%) and freight (3–8%). Because aluminium is priced by the tonne and sheeting varies 2.5–3× between classes, two quotes for the 'same' sign can legitimately differ. Always ask for an itemised quote.

Post wall thickness, flanges and foundations
A typical cantilever post is Ø273×8×7300. Wall thickness must match diameter, flanges must cover bolt edge distance, and galvanizing thickness drives the 15-year service life.
Post failures usually trace to wall thickness, flange geometry or galvanizing — not steel grade. Reducing an 8 mm wall to 6 mm cuts the section's moment of inertia by about 22%. Flange diameter must leave at least 1.5× bolt diameter edge distance, and galvanizing should average ≥85 µm, rising to ≥100 µm in coastal or de-icing environments.

Choosing barrier panels: metal, transparent or concrete
Metal panels dominate expressways; transparent panels suit urban viaducts where light and views matter; concrete is maintenance-free but heavy and visually blunt.
Barrier performance depends on panel insulation, height and distance to the source. Metal panels dominate expressways; transparent panels serve urban viaducts; concrete suits low-aesthetic embankments. Absorptive composite panels typically add 3–5 dB(A) over purely reflective types and avoid pushing noise to the opposite side.

Source factory or trader: five criteria
Traders win on flexibility and payment terms; source factories win on price transparency, lead-time control and traceability. Stable volume with customisation favours the factory.
Choose a factory when volume is stable, specifications are custom, lead time matters and traceability is required. Choose a trader for very small mixed orders, extended payment terms or multi-category sourcing. Three questions separate them quickly: which aluminium grade and thickness, how many levelling lines, and can we watch production.
